Hello World, Now What?
First off, we’d like to start by welcoming you to our new blog about wheels. Yep, you read it right. An entire blog talking about nothin’ but car and truck wheels. Exciting, no? And before we get inundated with your “Oh great, another blog about the auto industry” comments perhaps we can answer the one question you are already thinking right off the bat. “With every Tom, Dick and Harry publishing a blog these days(1), why should I read this one?”
Why indeed? If you work in the auto industry, this is the only place where you can find the latest news about wheel market issues, consumer trends and technologies – all in one location. Whether you are a dealer and want to see which wheels move the metal faster, or you are a manufacturer and need to keep up with the latest in trends, we plan to bring it all here. There are some interesting and controversial topics being planned, from marketing tactics that work to products that don’t (and visa-versa). We will do our best to bring all sides to the table and will participate in the conversations with as much humor and irreverence as we can muster. Who knows, we may surprise you by debunking some common myths or even help discover the next great earth-shattering idea. It’s pretty simple really.
So, watch this site for automotive wheel industry “inside” information. The blog will be updated weekly with news from our travels around the world, customer insights, sneak peaks on future products and best of all we will do our best to answer all your questions.
Next Week: Details on what kind of wheels Audi Enthusiasts want! A Chromtec exclusive report from Motorstadt 7.

Great idea Frank! Your blog should have a section on environmental performance. How do wheels infulence the road load horsepower requirements of a vehicle? What materials are recyclable and recycled? What finishes/processes are harmful to the environment and which are benign? How does wheel appearence demonstrate/communicate environmental sensitivity? The industry needs to invent/discover visual cues that tell consumers their vehicle is environmentally superior. What are these cues as relates to wheels?
Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestions Larry. We will be discussing the environment in some upcoming posts but your comment about how appearance communicates and demonstrates environmental sensitivity is intriguing. Perhaps we can get some of the designers here to comment on this issue. I will make sure to make that a separate post in the coming weeks.
